Nobita is getting ready for his school’s concert by honing his recorder skills, which are passable. Mikka, an enigmatic girl, walks in front of him. She seems to enjoy the carefree, calming sound of Nobita and extends an invitation to Doraemon and the others to see the “hall of music” that has been built on a planet where music is transformed into energy. Mikka wanted to perform with a music master in order to safeguard this hall of music. Gradually repairing the Hall of Music, Doraemon and his companions play musical instruments chosen by Mikka using the Musician’s License.

Progress

The film was once again directed by Kazuaki Imai, who previously helmed Doraemon: Nobita’s Treasure Island (2018) and Doraemon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur (2020). Teruko Utsumi, who has penned screenplays for several Doraemon episodes, took on the task of authoring the screenplay.

Situational context

According to Kazuaki Imai, the film’s plot originated during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. “When I finished directing my previous work, ‘New Dinosaur,’ the world had changed unexpectedly because of the pandemic brought on by the Novel coronavirus,” he stated. Restricting direct touch and engagement with other people made children more worried. I got choked up one day when I observed my youngster, cooped up at home, belting out tunes while watching television.

Through the use of a computer, each musician could play one song virtually while the performance was postponed. Simultaneously with my realization of the power of music, a vision of kids embarking on a grand musical adventure alongside Doraemon started to grow in my mind.”
