Transformers One
Transformers One will be an upcoming American animated fantasy based on the Transformers toy line by Hasbro. Josh Cooley is the director, and Michael Sherman, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, and Steve Desmond wrote the screenplay. Scarlett Johansson, Jon Hamm, Laurence Fishburne, Keegan-Michael Key, Chris Hemsworth, and Brian Tyree Henry are among the ensemble voice cast members. The relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron will be the main focus of the movie, which is billed as an “origin story” and takes place on the planet Cybertron.
After Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) was released in March 2015, Akiva Goldsman was given a mission by Paramount Pictures to collaborate with Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura to establish a writer’s room whereby ideas for possible Transformers films might be generated. An animated prequel set on Cybertron was one of the concepts that emerged from the writer’s room when Barrer and Ferrari joined it in May. August 2017 saw the announcement of the movie, and Cooley was brought on board as director by April 2020. April 2023 saw the release of the title and voice cast, with Industrial Light & Magic providing the animation. This was the company’s first comeback to the franchise since Bumblebee (2018).

Development
After Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) came out, Paramount Pictures assigned Akiva Goldsman—who would go on to write the co-story for Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)—a task in March 2015 to collaborate with Michael Bay, the franchise’s director, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to establish a “writer’s room” where they could come up with ideas for potential follow-up and spinoff films. Following the establishment of the writer’s room, many writers were engaged to pen the franchise’s upcoming books. As per Goldsman’s account, the crew would peruse different Transformers media produced by Hasbro in search of ideas. If they discovered a project that piqued their attention, they may propose a treatment, which would then be refined by the entire team.
Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer had entered the writer’s room around the end of May. One of the concepts that emerged from the writer’s room, according to Deadline Hollywood, was initially titled Transformers One. It was intended to be an animated prequel that would center on the Autobot–Decepticon struggle that started on Cybertron.
Transformers One Animation
The animation for the movie was once again done by Industrial Light & Magic, the same company that did the visual effects for the previous live-action Transformers movies. By February 2024, the film was in post-production.
