Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
A computer-animated superhero movie based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird is titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The second theatrical animated feature after TMNT is a reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie series (2007). From a script by Brendan O’Brien, Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears co-direct the movie.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was a live-action movie that came out in 2016, but four years later, in June 2020, future Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins revealed an animation movie with the same name that focused on the Ninja Turtles’ “teenage” side.
Production of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
On June 30, 2020, it was revealed that Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Animation Studio were working on a computer-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The movie’s cast included Kyler Spears as co-director, Brendan O’Brien as a screenwriter, and Jeff Rowe as director. Through their firm, Point Grey Pictures, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver, who previously collaborated with O’Brien on the films Neighbors (2014) and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, will produce the movie (2016).
” Adding Seth, Evan, and James’ talent to the humor and action that are already an essential part of TMNT is going to make this a next-level reimagining of the IP,” said Brian Robbins, president of Nickelodeon. As a longtime fan of the series, Rowe said it is an “absolute delight” to be directing the movie. While advertising his film An American Pickle on August 4, 2020, actor Seth Rogen claimed that the movie would incorporate themes from the franchise, of which he has been a lifetime fan, as well as “kind of home in on” parts from his earlier films, which were based on teenagers.
The movie’s initial release date, school notes by Leonardo, and other information were included in a teaser picture that Rogen released on his Twitter profile in June 2021. The movie’s working title, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter, was made public in October of that year. Yashar Kassai, the movie’s production designer, expounded on the undertaking in a 2021 interview with Variety, stating that “you anchor yourself enough in the known components of it so that it is immediately recognized, but then you either add or improve some of the current charms of the brand.” Concept art showing the namesake team’s concepts was made public in February 2022.
Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of the TMNT, subsequently stated his support for Rogen and congratulated him on his idea of the movie for stressing the team’s status as teens during an interview with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was announced as the official title on August 4, 2022, one year before the movie’s debut.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Casting
Due to Rogen’s desire to emphasize the realism of the adolescent aspect, the four Turtles will be voiced for the first time in the franchise by actual teens.
Animation
By September 2021, work had already begun on the animation for the movie.
Mikros Image and Cinesite will offer animation services. The movie’s 2D-style computer-generated animation, reminiscent of Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was influenced by sketches that Rowe created as a teen in his school notebook.
